Digital expression - Making a mask

Katpatat
details

They have become incredibly popular lately because of Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat: Face filters! By looking at your phone, you can turn into a dog that sticks its tongue out when you open your mouth, you can try out a moustache or you can see what you might look like when you are old and grey.
Students explore identity in the digital world. What does identity mean in the digital world? What do you look like digitally? And what technology is behind this?
We do this with pencil and paper and we digitise the analogue mask into an AR face mask that you can put on yourself in the digital space.

Katpatat is a collective based in Utrecht, working on experimental games and interactive installations. Everything Katpatat make shares the same principles of being interactive and playful. Also aims to encourage people to think about the world around them and why things are the way they are.
