Adrien Lucca

Biography

Since 2009, Adrien Lucca develops a multidisciplinary body of work around color and light that questions our perception of the physical world.
In search of practical means of action, he has set up a research and production laboratory where he conceives his works in an autonomous way at the intersection of art and science.
To the antipodes of a sad passion for the normalization and the technicization of our relations to the physical world, Lucca believes that one can highlight the strangeness of the link between the physical world and our perception of it by appropriating scientific and technological resources.
His most recent work aims at redefining the very concept of “color”.
Adrien Lucca (born in 1983 in Paris) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium.

performance

Yellow zone / yellow-free zone, version 3

Opposing common sense, this installation demonstrates that there is no link between the color of the light and the color that appears on objects illuminated by this same light. You can freely move the balloons. The difference of color that appears on the balloons in the different areas of the installation is due to a fine manipulation of the spectrum of the white light. First presented in 2018, this version has been sharpened to amplify further the color changes.
